Pets on Quilts Contest

Here is my enter for SewCalGal Pets on Quilts contest.  I made this quilt for my husband from photographs transferred to fabric.  He always wanted a collage of pictures of "Angel Animals" so this was my idea for that.  Our animals that have gone on to animal heaven.  (the first two photos, the red horse and the blue tick hound are still with us).  This picture is from when back in April when I was basting the quilt on the floor in the hospital after Alan had just back a second back surgery.  So many of the hospital staff were amazing at the pictures and also laughing at me on the floor!
In this is two horses, three dogs, one cat, hamster and rabbit, and chickens aka "The Girls".
I put the name of each animal on their photo.

This was a practice piece as I was trying to make the border around the picture look like wood grain.
I from some reason didn't take a picture of the finished quilt and my camera needs new batteries right now.
So I'll have to live with these pictures of the unfinished quilt for the contest!

What a wonderful memory quilt! Especially with the whole gang together. I do like the effect you were going for...the wood grain framing the pictures :)
